I traveled with
Michelle to her first softball tournament in San Marcos, Texas. We traveled a
total of 2,601 miles! We rode on a bus to Nashville, Tennessee and from there
we flew in to Houston. We had a two-hour delay in Houston before getting on our
connecting flight to San Antonio. Once we left the San Antonio airport, we
headed to San Marcos, which was about 45 minutes away. We stopped to eat at BJs
Brew House and had a delicious meal. After dinner, we drove to the Embassy
Suites Hotel.
The
next day, the SIU softball team was supposed to play two games, but it was only
28 degrees out! We went to Texas to play in the warm weather and it was still
below freezing! So their Friday games were cancelled. I traveled with the team
to an indoor facility for practice, then to lunch, and to the mall after that.
It was the biggest outlet mall I have ever seen! We ate a nice Mexican meal for
dinner and then headed back to the hotel for the night.
On
Saturday, we ate lunch at Jason’s Deli and then headed to Texas State
University to kick of the 2014 softball season. Thankfully, it was 30 degrees
warmer outside than the day before. I brought luck to the SIU softball team
because they won both of their games! I didn’t actually get to see them play
because I was stuck in Michelle’s bat-bag, but I could hear the excitement!
After the games, Michelle sent me with her family and I went to her sister’s
house, which was just 30 minutes away in Dripping Springs. She sent me with her
family so her mom could get a good picture of me :). However, I had a feeling
this was not a good idea. I was right. The SIU softball team lost both of their
Sunday games and I believe it was because I was not in Michelle’s bat-bag to
bring luck to the team!!
After
the games on Sunday, I was reunited with Michelle and we traveled back to
Nashville on a direct flight. From Nashville, we drove by bus back to Carbondale
and got home around 12:30am. I enjoyed the trip to Texas and am excited for my
upcoming adventures this semester!
