I have lived in Fairfield for 30 years and I have never noticed this monument in front of Wayne county courthouse.  This monument signifies the first official endorsement for Presidential candidate Abe Lincoln.  The endorsement was from the Wayne County Republicans.  We also hung out in Pond Creek which is where the Shelton Gang use to run around.
